What goes on at Detonate?
The Detonate day is varied and lots of fun. At the start and finish of each day we gather together for lively songs, comedy, drama and competitions. For the rest of the day children follow an age-group specific programme of games, teaching and activities. Through this they learn of God’s amazing love and about friendship with Jesus. Friday afternoon includes a final session in which parents and siblings can join in the fun. Throughout the day, children are cared for in small groups, each with a responsible leader and one or more helpers.
How much does it cost?
Detonate costs approximately £20,000 to run, which is about £75 per child. All our team members are volunteers and give their time free of charge.
The fees charged allow Detonate to run at cost.
However, we do not want any child to be excluded because their family cannot afford to pay for them. We therefore offer some bursary places at Detonate. Should you need to discuss this with us please message us via the parents contact page and select the bursaries subject option.
What happens next?
In the Spring each year we open our registrations and booking process. The Booking menu option will appear once this is open. Please follow the guidance on the Booking page to register your child for Detonate. We have a limited number of places to please register promptly to guarantee a place. The closing date is in mid-July. (Late applications may be considered if there are spaces).
Important
Detonate is open to any child currently in school years 1 to 6 who lives in, or goes to school or church in, Chorleywood or its immediate vicinity.
It is very important that you provide details (at time of application) of any special needs your child may have. We need these so that we can ensure adequate provision and supervision.
Children can go into a younger age group (eg to be with a younger brother or sister) but cannot join an older age group.
Detonate is organised by the Churches of Chorleywood, which are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998. Photographs and videos may be taken during the week and used in publicity material.
