Detonate is run by a team of volunteer Christians from Chorleywood churches. We aim to introduce local children to God, to explore the Bible with them and to help them look to Jesus as their special friend - all in a fun-filled week with sport, craft, drama and music.
We cannot give every child the individual love and encouragement they need unless we have enough helpers. So please volunteer online here. PLEASE SIGN UP NOW so that we can plan the team and send you important information in advance. If helpers don’t sign up until the last minute we risk turning children away. We attract 300-350 children each year. So we need around 150 volunteers in total to put on this unique event. You need to be responsible, sensible with children, ready for hard work and ready for a great week! There's a huge range of jobs for all types and ages of people. If you have an active Christian faith you could be a small group leader (of a group of 8-10 children). Otherwise you can be a small group helper. You could also be part of an activity team (e.g. craft, sports) or support team (e.g. refreshments. You can help all week or just for part of it. If you can only spend a few hours, we need helpers for Early Birds (an early morning session for team members’ children only), for refreshments and site security (either sleeping on site or at the start and/or end of the day. If you can only help on certain days we will match you up with people who can cover the other days. If you cannot help during weekdays but are available at weekends and are fit and strong, perhaps you could help us with site set up (Saturday July 21st) or take down (Saturday July 28th).
You will receive no remuneration. However you will experience the significant spiritual rewards of working alongside other local Christians and of helping children to have fun whilst learning about Jesus. NB: If you volunteer and also want to bring your own children, they will get priority but you must still fill in a full registration form for each child. |
